It’s the truth, and we love highlighting this interesting fact to all the wonderful couples we work with. That being said, it takes some guidance to facilitate a cost effective stay for all of your guests, and we’ve got some tips to guide you through that process.

Tip #1: Consider Travel Time

One of the most common concerns we hear from wedding guests is the travel time to the destination. We recommend choosing a destination that is within a 4-5 hour flight for most attendees.

On average, destination wedding guests tend to stay at the resort for an average of 4 nights. By minimizing travel time, everyone will have more time to celebrate and fully enjoy the resort, thereby maximizing the value of the budget spent. Additionally, it’s a wonderful idea to give guests the flexibility to choose the duration of their stay.

Tip #2: All-Inclusive Is Key

The more expenses you can minimize for your guests, the better! That’s why we always recommend considering all-inclusive resorts as a priority. For guests, once they’ve paid for their trip, everything else is already covered before they even embark on their journey. There’s no need to worry about renting a car or budgeting for meals, making trip planning much more straightforward.

Choose Your Venue

You don’t have to have every detail of your wedding planned in advance, but it’s helpful to have an idea of your wedding style as you begin looking at resorts to host your wedding. First on your to-do list will be choosing the venue for your ceremony. If you’ve always dreamed of a beach wedding, choosing a ceremony venue will be as easy as a tropical breeze. A rooftop or terrace ceremony might be just the thing for those killer heels though. Knowing the various venue options for each resort is a great place to begin because small details like this might be the deciding factor between two resorts.

Think About Your Guests

Most destination weddings are smaller than traditional weddings. Even so, you might want to make sure accommodations are sufficient, especially if you’re planning a major bash.

Nearly all the couples I work with are also concerned about the guest travel budget. While we want to keep costs down, the cheapest all-inclusive resort possible shouldn’t be the goal. Most guests are happy to spend the money to be there for your special day, and the best way you can thank them for coming is by choosing a high-quality resort with great amenities, good food, and plenty to do for the entire guest list. You can’t put a price on a memorable vacation with those you love, so it’s important your guests have an unforgettable time at your wedding for all the right reasons.

Your Wedding Budget

While you’ll likely end up spending less money on a destination wedding than you would if you got married back home, you still need to think about the budget. Most all-inclusive resorts offer a wedding package that includes a certain number of guests and then charges per guest above that number. Figure out exactly who you want to invite, what kind of decor you like, and what your overall wedding experience will look like to keep your budget in the black.

There are thousands of resorts to choose from, but not all of them are right for a wedding.
