Why did you decide to have a destination wedding?
We chose a destination wedding because both of our families are from different states, so no matter where we got married, someone would have to travel. Rather than picking a single location and making one side travel, we decided to turn it into an adventure and vacation for everyone!
How did you select the resort? What were the deciding factors?
We chose The Hyatt Ziva Riviera Cancún after careful consideration of several important factors. It was important to us that the resort be family-friendly. We wanted our whole family to truly enjoy and make the most of this special occasion. This meant finding a venue that offered activities and accommodations for all ages. We ultimately decided on The Hyatt Ziva RC because it boasts an array of amenities, from a kids’ splash pad to adult-only pools. Additionally, the resort’s all-inclusive package alleviated any concerns regarding meals and beverages, making it a stress-free environment. Finally, it provided the beautiful beach backdrop for our wedding.
Describe what it was like working with the wedding coordinator at the resort.
Working with the wedding coordinator at the resort significantly contributed to the success of our special day. Our coordinator was efficient and responsive, which made the planning process smooth and enjoyable. We set up numerous meetings via Zoom and exchanged countless emails to plan each aspect of our wedding meticulously. Despite the remote communication, we always felt supported and informed. When we arrived at the resort and met in person, we seamlessly transitioned from our virtual planning sessions to on-site execution. Like any event planning process, we faced a few challenges along the way. Coordinating from a distance posed some logistical hurdles. However, our coordinator’s proactive approach made any challenges manageable.
Tell us about your wedding dress!
My wedding dress made me feel confident and beautiful, like the star of a fairytale. The dress was adorned with delicate lace featuring a fun and romantic pattern that added elegance. One of the unique aspects of my dress was the mocha colored underlay, which provided a stunning contrast to the ivory colored lace. This combination made it truly one-of-a-kind. The dress was comfortable and allowed me to move freely throughout the day, from the ceremony to the dance floor.
Were your guests wowed by the resort? What was their reaction upon arrival?
Our guests were absolutely wowed by the resort and all-inclusive concept. Their reaction upon arrival was nothing short of true delight. As soon as they stepped out of their transfer vehicles, they were greeted with an ice cold glass of champagne. This thoughtful (and much-needed) touch after a long day of travel set the tone for the entire experience, making everyone feel pampered and special. We had guests who had never stayed at an all-inclusive resort before, and they were blown away by the convenience and luxury it offered. They even mentioned this would be their preferred way to travel from now on! Overall, guests were thoroughly impressed by the resort’s amenities, service, and overall feel. It created an unforgettable experience.
Tell us about your wedding! What was different about a destination wedding compared to a wedding at home?
Our wedding was the perfect blend of traditional and destination magic. We followed the standard traditions, starting with a ceremony, followed by cocktail hour, a dinner reception, and dancing. One of the major differences between our destination wedding and a wedding at home was the level of convenience and relaxation it offered. At home, there’s often lots of work involved including decorating, setting up, and cleaning up. The resort took care of and eliminated all of these stresses for us. This allowed us and our guests to fully enjoy the day without any distractions or logistical concerns.

The best part of having a destination wedding was the unique and unforgettable experience it created for us and our guests. The beautiful location paired with the luxurious amenities of the Hyatt Ziva RC made our wedding feel like a fairytale. Having everything handled by the resort allowed us to relax and truly enjoy our day. It wasn’t just a wedding, it was a vacation and celebration rolled into one, creating the best memories that we and our guests will have forever.
In what ways did Kate’s Travel make the planning less stressful for you?
Kates Travel significantly reduced our stress as all of the intricate travel trails were handled on our behalf. Throughout the planning phase, Kate offered constant support. She checked in with us regularly and offered valuable insight, which calmed all of our travel and pre-wedding nerves. Kate arranged bookings and transportation for us and all of our guests, ensuring we could all relax and enjoy our trip stress-free!
