From our very first call, I knew Charlotte and Zach’s wedding was going to be something extraordinary. They envisioned a chic, adults-only celebration at a luxurious, modern resort, complete with top-notch entertainment and easy accessibility for all their guests. Their dream wedding also needed to be affordable, with convenient flights and accommodations for everyone.

Why did you decide to have a destination wedding?

We chose a destination wedding because we wanted to extend the wedding celebration beyond a traditional 6-hour/one-day event. We are so fortunate to have such a close-knit and fun group of family and friends, that we wanted to create a weekend-long experience to fully enjoy their company and bask in the love and joy of our special occasion.

How did you select your wedding resort? What were the deciding factors?

When we decided on a destination wedding in Mexico, we were thrilled to have finally made a big ‘wedding decision’ BUT we were soon overwhelmed by the 1,000+ options of resorts. We had two main fears about having a destination wedding. Firstly, we were concerned that our guests wouldn’t want to travel all the way to Mexico. However, we were pleasantly surprised when out of our 120 invited guests, 80 attended!

Secondly, we were anxious about planning a wedding at a resort we had never visited and working with vendors we’d never met. The booking process for us and our guests was incredibly smooth, thanks to Kate’s expertise and support. She guided our guests through every step, from initial inquiries about room rates and resort amenities to arranging seamless airport transportation to the resort. Kate went above and beyond with 5+ reminder emails, ensuring everyone’s passports were valid, flight information was up-to-date, and providing helpful packing lists.

As a bride, having Kate handle these details was a tremendous relief during wedding planning. Every guest shared that their experience working with Kate was the most seamless they’ve ever had with a travel agent, highlighting her exceptional dedication and attention to detail.

Were your guests wowed by the resort? What was their reaction upon arrival?

Our guests were absolutely wowed by the resort and the all-inclusive concept, thanks to Kate’s efforts in securing discounted rates that exceeded our expectations. Despite initial concerns about room rates, Kate’s expertise resulted in rates that were over $200 less per person, per night than online rates, which left everyone pleasantly surprised.

For our guests that were unfamiliar with the all-inclusive concept, there was some initial hesitation. However, their experience at the resort completely changed their perspective. The convenience of having everything paid upfront allowed everyone to relax and enjoy the vacation without worrying about expenses. The attentive waitstaff at the resort added to the experience, ensuring that no drink never went warm and every guest felt pampered.

The food was a highlight of our stay, with the resort offering an incredible culinary experience. Because it was an all-inclusive, we could sample a variety of dishes we wouldn’t have tried otherwise, making each meal a memorable and enjoyable event.

Overall, the all-inclusive concept truly made everyone feel like royalty and allowed our guests to fully immerse themselves in the vacation experience without any worries, making it an unforgettable trip for all.

What was the best part of having a destination wedding?

The best part of having a destination wedding was transforming our wedding celebration from a single day thing into an entire weekend of memories. The extended time allowed us to connect intimately with each of our guests, creating personal memories throughout the weekend. This meant that on our actual wedding day, we could focus on enjoying each other’s company without the pressure of rushing to greet every guest.

Our wedding day was easy, and I don’t know how many brides can say that.  We were able to take in every moment together and appreciated not feeling obligated to engage with distant relatives, giving us the freedom to fully immerse ourselves in the joy of the day because that’s what weddings should be about – the bride & groom having fun!

My best advice for couples starting the wedding planning process is simple: Hire Kate.

Once major decisions like choosing a resort are made, take time to enjoy your engagement without the constant stress of planning. I have a friend who has been planning her wedding for the past year and a half, with a destination wedding, most of the planning waited until the 90-days before.

As someone who values organization and control, I initially struggled with surrendering control during the planning process.
